Even though 2021 has just begun, car companies like MINI are already starting to think about the future. While our new crop of MINI cars is fantastic, they’re getting several upgrades and enhancements for 2022, and we're excited to see what's in store.

Sharper and Nimbler

The first thing you may notice about 2022 MINI models is that their front bumpers and grilles look different. The iconic hexagonal grille is now taller, and the lower bumper has a new air curtain to improve aerodynamics.

Plus, the fog lights are now part of the headlights, which creates an overall cleaner look. In addition, several new colors are available, including Zesty Yellow, Rooftop Grey, and Island Blue.

More Tech-Savvy

Once you get inside a 2022 MINI car, you’ll be met with a plush, new interior that comes with a leather steering wheel that offers heating functionalities. You can also take advantage of a bigger touchscreen (8.8 inches) for the infotainment system.

Every model will also be equipped with SiriusXM® satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay™ integration is available. These 2022 models will also come with new standard safety features, such as lane departure warning.

MINI Performance Specs

If you’re hoping these new MINI vehicles are just as peppy as before, you’re in luck, because the powertrains haven’t changed. The base MINI Cooper will still come with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 134 horsepower. The S trim will come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that creates 189 horsepower, while the John Cooper Works model will have a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that pumps out 228 horsepower. Plus, the electric SE model will be able to generate 181 horsepower with its electric motor.

These new 2022 MINI models won’t be at MINI of Glencoe for a while, but you can keep checking our site for the latest information. If you can’t wait to pick one up, come down to see the 2021 vehicles we have in stock.
