Our team at our MINI service center near Chicago can help you take the best care of your car to get the most life from it, including taking care of your essential car fluids.

The most common car fluid you’ll need to stay on top of is your car oil, but this one is pretty easy to remember since it is relatively frequent. However, there are other essential car fluids that you don’t want to forget about.

  • Transmission Fluid: in the same way that your oil helps lubricate your engine, your transmission fluid lubricates your transmission. This allows for smooth gear changes as you drive, without any grinding, excess wear, or stalling. This service should be completed roughly every 30,000 miles to 100,000 miles, so be sure to check your owner’s manual.
  • Brake Fluid: the brake fluid in your car’s braking system is a hydraulic substance that creates the pressure that stops your car. It also helps keep your brakes from overheating or corroding. Be sure to refer to your owner’s manual, since the frequency that this fluid needs to be changed varies between models.
  • Coolant: also referred to as antifreeze, this essential car fluid keeps your car’s engine at a safe operating temperature during both extreme freezing temperatures and heatwaves. Have this fluid changed roughly every 30,000 to 60,000 miles.
